1957 : Ferrari 335 S - Scuderia Ferrari - nº7

Chassis nº0656 driven by Hawthorn and Musson.

With the Collins Ferrari eliminated after the early laps , it was Mike Hawthorn who tookthe lead and impose a pace worthy of the Grand Prix  the perpetually bow-tied knew so well.
He was doing so well that he beat the lap recordwith a time of 3´58,7 sec, an average of 203,015 km/h. Thus he crossed the 200 km/h threshold and smashed the former record set the previous year in a Jaguar D drived byt he same pilot.
Unfortunatey Luigi Musso retired a few hours later, nursing his 335 S along the Hunaudieres with , like Collins, a cracked piston. (text Dominique Pascal)
